We are passionate about assisting patients in achieving their optimal well-being in any circumstance. However, we particularly enjoy supporting those who believe they haven't received proper treatment and are still experiencing problems from their accident, even years afterward.
Patients are fantastic at giving us feedback, and often leave us out-of-this-world Google reviews, but occasionally we receive letters expressing just how grateful they are. They want others to know just how much they have improved under our care, and we would love to share that with you now.
This is a letter from one of our patients, who literally felt that they had reached the end of their recovery options:
"In 2019, I was in an MVA that changed the course of my life. Just a month shy of my 21st birthday, I had a severe concussion, whiplash, soft tissue damage, and a never-ending list of miscellaneous injuries. I also developed a fear of being rear-ended, a fear of driving, depression and anxiety as a result of this car accident. My insurance presented me with one clinic as an option for treatment, and there I found they numbed my pain for an hour or so before it would creep back into all parts of my body.
After moving out of the city, I went six months without treatment as I couldn't claim my treatments with insurance when I left the province. Upon my return, I hired a lawyer and found a new place to seek treatment. I felt connected to the staff there, but the treatment did not provide much progress. The physiotherapist gave me good ideas for exercises to strengthen my muscles, but they did not alleviate the pain or discomfort for more than a week. The 30-minute chiropractor appointments only lasted five minutes, and I felt little difference. If anything, I felt more pain after treatment with some physiotherapists trained to do acupuncture, specifically after experiencing dry needling for an hour every other week. My depression and anxiety did not improve as I stopped believing I would heal or find my new normal.
When I finally came to Eminent Wellness, the staff restored my hope that I could improve. I have seen two chiropractors, one acupuncturist, and four massage therapists, all of whom made a difference in my life. After almost three years with no progress, Mandie and Steph's treatments allowed me to shoulder check regularly again. Their treatment helped me to pursue hobbies like reading, roller skating, hiking and working out. They also provided me with exercises that helped me see a difference in my muscle strength that past physiotherapy exercises did not achieve. They approached care holistically by addressing my anxiety and depression while making space for honesty about my progress.
I went from getting treatment every week at the first clinic I went to for treatment to every second week at the second clinic, down to once a month at Eminent Wellness. I am the happiest I have ever been since the accident, and the days when the pain is never-ending are long gone. I would highly recommend Eminent Wellness to any victim of an MVA as they are caring, provide holistic care and present the best treatment plans I've ever experienced.
Kind regards,
L."
This next letter is from a patient who quite frankly, is lucky to be alive. After over a year of unsatisfying treatments, this is their experience at Eminent Wellness:
"It is my pleasure to write a strong support letter on the behalf of all the Eminent Wellness Staff. I’ll start my story with all the injuries I had sustained after a life threatening motorcycle accident two years ago. (Dated in 2021)
I had surgery on my broken neck (C4, 5 and 6), broken back, broken arm, fourteen broken ribs and lacerated spleen. I’m extremely lucky to be alive, and (or) not permanently paralyzed from the neck down.
When I was discharged from the ICU after spending three weeks in the hospital, I immediately required a medical team that could comprehend my acute injuries. To be honest, I had reached out to several medical professionals, acquired their services, and they all had been an epic failure. (Respectfully, I won’t disclosure business’s or individual names). The medical staff were educated, helpful, and knowledgeable! BUT, there was something missing? I felt like a person entering a walk in clinic; take a number and wait in line.
The answer was, the lack of emotional connection and empathy, especially the theoretical or practical understanding of my combined injuries. The list is quite significant: Concussion symptoms, balance issues, weakness of muscles, cognitive concerns, mental health, and major neurological problems.
Unfortunately, attending physiotherapy didn’t cut the cloth! As anyone would feel, I was very discouraged, which lead to mental health concerns as I couldn’t find a business that would cater to my needs. Well… I was lucky enough not to give up, and I found a team that could facilitate all my injuries in one place EMINENT WELLNESS.
Chiropractor, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Cupping, Athletic Therapy, natural vitamins, with a holistic approach. All staff mentioned, including the front administrative staff have been outstanding.
I started April 2022 and have been going ever since!! When I enter, the staff greets me with a smile and positive vibes. When I’m in private setting they take the time to go over my sustaining injuries, what approach they’re going to take to heal them, expected time frames, and take the initiative to coordinate and communicate amongst themselves to assist my injuries properly.
In short, don’t hesitate to reach out to Eminent Wellness for your healing needs. You won’t regret it!
R."
These are just a couple of the patients who we have been able to help over the years. An MVA is not always a quick fix. Sometimes there is more damage to the underlying soft tissue that is not always obvious and that requires a lot of rehabilitation. Remember, not everyone heals the same way, but we are here to help you regardless of the situation.
Something that people are not always aware of, is that if you have an MVA, you are entitled to get treatments of your choice from a clinic of your choice. A lot of insurance companies will have preferential clinics that they associate with and will tell you to go to them, without explaining that this is not mandatory.
For more information regarding your rights in the case of an MVA and how the world of insurance and your healthcare practitioners work, please have a look at this (not terribly exciting, but informative government document) HERE.
