Essential Tips and Refreshing Foods to Keep Cool During a Heat Wave!


We all know that it is hot right now, so we have come up with a few ideas to help keep you cool and refreshed over the next few days. Staying cool during a heat wave is essential for your health and comfort.


Foods and Drinks:


Hydrating Foods:

  • Watermelon: High in water content and refreshing.

  • Cucumbers: High in water and can be added to salads or eaten as a snack.

  • Berries: Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries are light and hydrating.

  • Citrus Fruits: Oranges, lemons, and limes can be added to water for flavor and extra hydration.


Cooling Drinks:

  • Water: Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

  • Herbal Teas: Mint or chamomile tea can be cooled and consumed iced.

  • Coconut Water: Natural electrolytes make it a great hydrating option.


Light Meals:

  • Salads: Fresh vegetable salads with a light dressing.

  • Cold Soups: Gazpacho or cucumber soup can be very refreshing.

  • Stay Indoors: Spend time in air-conditioning or use fans to circulate air.

  • Cool Showers: Take cool showers to lower your body temperature.

  • Use Cool Compresses: Apply cool/damp cloths to wrists, neck, forehead.

  • Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine: These can dehydrate you and increase heat sensitivity.

  • Eat Smaller Meals: Large meals can raise your body temperature.

  • Use Cooling Products: Try cooling towels, gel packs, or small misting fans.
